But, check this out. I think I’ve got my Marshall-movies blog set up. So, go here.
The very first post should show a link to see the channel that is set up. It may only work in Firefox, since it is kind of a beta version and I haven’t noticed the pause and full screen buttons working in Safari.
How is everyone? Summer treating you well. It won’t be long now, will it?
We’ll be seeing you very soon for la escuela.
(Hear that, Biah? I hope you understand the complicated Spanish. Escuela means school. Since you didn’t know that, maybe you’ll remember it now, since I’m such an excellent teacher. Also, an expert on the Spanish language. I mean, what do you expect? I love the films by Pedro Almodovar. Ho!)
I think the walking schedule is going to be first thing in the morning- maybe 45 minutes (about 2.5 miles) around the track. It will probably be early, like 7am or something, but Jefferson: if you want to join me a couple times a week, it will feel GREAT and increase productivity, I think. For both of us, I mean.
Peeber is a natural at the guitar. Marshall, you would appreciate his serious love for the broken guitar in my room. He’s been playing it for two days straight now…ai yai yaiiiii. Even if he wakes me up at god awful hours in the morning, he’s still my one and only baby boy/true love.
So, i arrive at the country club yesterday morning and this guy is standing at his car next to where i parked. I got out and all he said was “listen”. I stopped rummaging through my bag and listened to what sounded like a serious fire or car alarm coming from the trees down the hill. “The cicadas are here…only every seventeen years” he said. That’s when i texted my dear marshall to inform her that they are certainly making their arrival. The perimeter of our house is lined with little holes in the dirt, definitely the work of the almighty bugs. Point being….come back to asheville immediately, my little neighbors!!!!
The country club is super easy and i’m starting to get to know the people i work with. Zack’s 20th birthday party was two nights ago and it was rather insane. People on the roof, in my room, across the street jumping on our neighbor’s trampoline….me oh my. My birthday party will be much classier.
My sister graduates june 10th so i’ll be making my way back to durham for the festivities. yee hawww. I can’t wait to see my long lost friends of the village. My cousin’s here, staying with me in the house for an unknown period of time…he’s attempting to find housing around these parts. Apparently, it’s a lot easier for women to find places to live than men…most of the ads specifically ask for female tenants only.
I’m off to work for the upper class elite assholes of the club. I hope to talk to you ALL sooooooon.
I have to first mention the INCREDIBLE video marshall posted up here…seriously, i know you’re going to think that i’m juusssstttt saying this BUT it’s really very true, awesome. jenny lenny and marshy larshy are just too cute for words. MWAH!
i wrote THAT lil message before she’d created ANOTHER masterpiece within mere hours of the other one. my personal video POM is kind of mind blowing for me to experience. thaaaaaank you marshall for helping me realize it’s okay to want to watch myself in my own personal music video.
my cat has pretty much changed my life hardcore. i love him like i’ve never loved anything. he’s so dependent on me and loves every bit of me just as i do him. i’m sitting here on my new fabulous bed in my faaaab new house watching him play with imaginary bugs and every string in the room. my room has turned into his room and i just live here with him…just as i like it. i’m with him every minute that i’m home. i’ve started drinking less and not staying up quite as late. he sleeps in my bed and we wake up together…or he wakes up and then i must as well. he makes every morning and every day a spectacular one. lovelove love him.
the doyles, liz, blair and i went to hairspray last night. it was maaaadness. such crazy fun…we pretty much OWNED the dance floor. next time i go i’m hoping i can get jen drunk enough on TRIPLE X SMIRNOFF ICE or is it TRIPLE BLACK? either way, you’ve got to come and dance it up next time, lady. my love for the doyles was reaffirmed and they made me remember how lucky i am to live in asheville and have the opportunity to make such incredible friendships with amazing people…just like the ladies and gentleman that are reading this. i love you allllll and i MISSSSSSSSSSS you!!!!!
so this summer is going reasonably well so far. i am still looking for a job, because a bitch has virtually no dollars in her life! it’s a sad look for sure. and it never fails to surprise me just how difficult is is to get a job, even at some lame ass stores! also to complicate that factor in a ridiculous way is the fact that i was fired from banana, and probably would have bad references from them and barnes & noble at the very least. ew. but the places i’ve applied so far have seemed hopeful for me, and told me they’d let me know something this week. here’s hoping. otherwise i will just have to stop being so picky and may end up working somewhere completely uncool/hatable. fingers, toes, eyes, and legs crossed fa rull!
in other (more exciting news), i had a fucking amazing time at the erykah badu/roots show with brian! omg. here’s a video of some of the highlights that someone posted on youtube if you wanna see we definitely snuck in little bottles of vanilla stoli to mix with soda for the show – like 12 of them! if that isn’t ghetto enough for you, please understand that we had no idea where the coliseum was (even though i’d been before), and once we got there we could not find the will call place (despite asking for directions from 2 workers who sent our ass in every wrong direction!). we met another lost lady named amber and we bonded, but that bitch had 7th row seats so she promptly left our ass once she got in (but we saw her after the show . so i was feeling nervous about sneaking the vodka in, but thank god brian is way better at playing shit off than me (and he had more pockets), because i definitely dropped on right out in the middle of everything! yeah, i’m clumsy and lost at all times.
the roots went first, and they were crazy hot. i wish i had that much energy. they were all over the place. even the guy with the huge ass horn thing was dancing around and being crazy. they did some old school stuff and some of the newest songs from their most recent album, rising down. they even did biz markie’s “just a friend!” they got everyone hyped up, though, which made for some really good energy and a lot of fun. which meant brain and i had to go mix our drinks in the bathroom afterwards and get our esspurience on.
ms. badu was late as hell to come on, but it was worth the wait! from the second she was on, she had us hooked. she was giving it up and telling the truth on things. she did a lot from new amerykah, and then brought in old school badu a little after she’d gotten started. she was banging some crazy ass drum like it had done her wrong, and she had the hottest shoes, and the whole thing was fierce and famous. she played this song called “annie (ain’t don’t wear no panties),” which cracked me up.
when she did “green eyes” she had two red yoga balls and she was dancing with them and throwing them around to people on stage before kicking them out into the audience. badu is crazy. then she finished off with “bag lady” and “honey.” she was getting people in the audience to take the mic on some parts, and not a damn one could sing, which was wildly entertaining, and she’d be like, “go ‘head queen, go ‘head brotha” no matter how bad they sounded. she didn’t have the big fro, but she was rocking those shoes and a purple hoodie at one point. brian kept yelling for her to “sing tyrone!” and many others were wanting the same thing. i was too busy dancing to care. amazing show.
then we went and got some wine, and some cosmic cantina, and had a madonna sing-a-long in the car on the way to my house, where we watched strangers with candy and the simple life drunk out of our minds until morning. i spent the next day in bed with brian, avoiding cutting the grass until 30 mins before a storm when i started and had to come in. we watched the opposite of sex and american beauty, and then my parents came home from their 29th anniversary weekend.
instead of job hunting today, i watched the entire angels in america in the morning, and then slept the rest of the afternoon. i cleaned up the house some after that, and then my family came home and we all watched enchanted.
yeah, life is good.
except that i miss all of you! and i need dollars so i can visit. but we gonna work it out.
So, i’m getting a kitty. This week. And I’m so ridiculously excited. He’s fabulous and gangsta fly and his name is PIBBER!? i love this so much. not only because our house spends millions every year on PBR beer, but it’s adorable and crazy and makes very little sense which makes it PERFECT FOR ME! Molly and I are going to adopt it hopefully on Wednesday. I have to be interviewed so i’m making molly come with me and pretend she’s my life partner.
Yesterday some of the housefolk went “hiking”. Normally, this would mean driving to a pretty mountain area and walking around in nature. For the 6 of us it meant driving for hours with plenty of PBR in our packs in two separate cars. We had to stop at least 4 times because everyone to pee…but not to worry, the awesome kiah superhero stepped up and was the designated driver. It ended up raining and we decided to give up and stop at the soda shop in a small mountain down. SO WONDERFUL and DARLING. We ate hot dogs that were called chili willies and that made me way happy. I met an ethnomusicologist who chatted with me about mountain towns and how fabulous they are.
The country club shit begins soon and i will be way overwhelmed. I have so many rules and regulations to remember and the crazy snake man keeps awkwardly flirting with me when i come in to train.
i miss you allllll LOTS. i’ll talk to you soooooon.
